August 19 - Shepherd’s Prayer

Shepherd’s Prayer

Let the Lord encourage your heart as you pray this simple prayer today:

Dear Father,

You have made it so clear and positive that we should never despise the day of small beginnings. So we quickly acknowledge the seemingly insignificant things that swirl around us that appear to be, oh, so small; yet, in fact, are the seeds of the large things You would work among us.

Loving Savior,

You have said, “I will build My church,” and we witness You doing just that.  Saving many by the power of Your Spirit and consistently enlarging the borders and possibilities of their lives.  We pray that You continue to concentrate on the needed areas in us, for we remain available to Your hand.  We’re thankful You included us in Your construction project.

Gracious Holy Spirit,

You have said that You will guide, teach, and lead us into all truth.  We ask that you would do that today.  You have said that You don’t dwell in temples made with hands, and we have seen You become enthroned in the lives of people.  All kinds of people.  From the wounded, hungry and crying…to the strong, secure, and confident ones in the Lord.  We desire to be a people in whom Your glory and presence dwells.

Finally,

Your Word declares, “I will bless the Lord at all times.”  And we are setting our wills to do exactly that.  We offer our praise and thanksgiving to You, Lord, for You are Jesus the King and worthy to be praised.  It’s by our praise that we proclaim to this world our love for You and Your grace toward us.

May you be praised and glorified this day in our lives.

Reflections:
1)  What areas is God stirring in your heart to pursue Him?
2)  Have you asked Him for it today?
